Synopsis
After an inmate murders a prison guard, his replacement Sergeant Bennett is told to bring “the block” back to order. Bennett reluctantly relies on help from the head block worker, inmate Terrance Lewis. They form an unlikely friendship, which the warden condemns. Things come to a head at Terrance’s resentencing hearing where Bennett must choose between his job and standing up for an innocent man.

Director's Statement
In March of 2019 I received a phone call from a Pennsylvania prison. The man on the line was Terrance Lewis. He had been imprisoned for over 21 years for a murder he didn’t commit.
Terrance had seen the trailer to my most recent film The Conqueror, a documentary about his cousin Jerome. He asked me if we might share his story with the world. Three months later Terrance was exonerated. We could suddenly speak whenever we wanted. And as we became good friends, I learned the heartbreaking, powerful, and redemptive story of his life.
Infraction is important now because it reveals the profound determination needed to stand up for the truth when it is most difficult. Terrance reminds us of the ingenuity and resilience that counters the dark impulses of injustice.
Terrance became a leader in prison. He gained the respect of hundreds of prisoners and officers alike. It is an honor to be a part of Terrance’s life and to help share his story with the world. I hope when you see this film, you too will be inspired to help the Terrance Lewises of the world. You may even consider how you can help Terrance today with his endeavors at The Terrance Lewis Liberation Foundation where he works to bring innocent people home from prison.
